Dear Family, Friends and Loved Ones:

Christian Blake Newton was my godson. He had a loving, generous/kind spirit at a very early age. Normally, you don't notice this in a young child, but he stood out amongst the rest. At the very young age of 12, his mother, Dee Dee (my best friend) passed away. No child should have to experience this and like most children, losing a parent has a tremendous effect on a child's life. If you knew the relationship that Christian and Dee Dee shared, you can understand how he would never be the same. For some children, this devastating trauma develops into a mental health disease. Unfortunately, this was his outcome. His pursuit of normalcy aided by Wyandotte Mental Health Counselors and Services have never proven to be effective. It was heartbreaking because the help received and all the love that family and friends showed him couldn't compare to the one missing person that he needed the most - his mom.

Now my dear Godson, Christian, is gone, and we are all heartbroken. Whether it is fate, irony or coincident, Christian passed away at the young age of 34 years old similar to the unfortunate passing of his beautiful mom, DeeDee at her young age of 34 years old.

We often ask ourselves, why God? Why? Then God says, why not? He's mine. After I delve deeper into my strong faith, I am left saying, THANK YOU GOD. Thank you for blessing my life with Christian and on behalf of all those that he touched. Christian was the type of person who would give a stranger the shirt off his back. I (we) will miss his loving spirit, his smile, his thoughtfulness, his innocence, his laugh, his voice and just that sweet personality that only Christian had.

Unfortunately, due to circumstances, Christian had no life insurance or financial support. With his sudden untimely death, we were not prepared for the cost of a funeral service. Many of you have asked how you can help during this very difficult time. Please consider making a financial donation to Christian's Aunt, LaWanda Newton-Henderson through this Go-Fund-Me. All (100%) donations will be used directly for his funeral arrangements. Any size donation is helpful as she plans to give him the simple yet beautiful funeral he deserves.
