Home Loss - Boucher Family

On July 23rd, 2023 at about 2:00 pm my mom's house caught fire. A neighbor saw the fire and immediately called 911. My brother heard the neighbor yelling and came out to see the fire.

My mom and dad bought the house from the inheritance from her dad. She's lived in that house for 40+ years. The house was paid off. Due to a former issue with the roof, she no longer had insurance on her house. All of our memories were in this house. This house isn't just a loss for my mom. It's a loss for everyone.

My brother's RV, which was next to the house, totally burned. He lost everything - including his vehicle key that melted in the fire.

My mom lost about 75% of things through the fire. She lost her clothes, her phone, important documents that will need to be replaced, and even basic basic hygiene items.

Luckily, my mom and my brother got out, barely. Their three dogs got out, but the firefighters recommended vet visits for smoke inhalation. Unfortunately, the cats were lost in the fire (either through smoke inhalation or via an opening in the house).

Though the fire is currently extinguished, they are expecting it to flare back up through the next few days because there are areas they physically couldn't get through, so it's possible they may lose more.

Red Cross did come by. They offered $350 in assistance, but that is the max amount of help they can offer (aside from replacing medicine - which will be a reimbursement).

Any help is greatly appreciated. Right now we need to find somewhere for her animals, her, and some basic clothing/hygiene items, and a new phone.
