Hi, we are Elevation Mutual Housing Community. We are, currently, 3 black women facing homelessness and/or struggling to care for our families in insecure and unaffordable private rented homes and we know we are not the only ones. So many families are under the threat of Section 21 evictions or rent hikes that leave them stressed out and with little or no means to pay other bills or take care of their children after the rent's been paid; and for a large majority of us social housing is not an option as, even if we qualified, the waiting lists are too long and temporary accommodation is no place to raise children. Also, even if some of us could raise enough to buy a home (whether outright or shared ownership), the mortgage repayments and service charges still leave families like ours with little left to live on and thrive.

We want to be the change we want see in the world. That change is a co-ownership model that gives communities real control over their housing future. Our mission is to purchase (and eventually build) homes and rent to them to our community of co-owners at genuinely affordable rents and with long-term secure tenancies. In doing so, our communities will gain the stability to plan and save for their families' futures while investing in each other's success. Read more about our story here.

We feel called by God to make our misery our mission but we need your help. Your support will help us set up as a housing cooperative and pay the reservation fee to secure our first set homes (we've found 8 new build homes in north London and we need to act fast to secure them). Once we're established, we'll be able to access other funding and our long term strategy is to expand by buying or building more co-owned homes across London (and beyond) - doing our part to help ease the housing crisis. But we can't get there without your help.
