Lucy's wheelchair accessible home
Donation protected
Lucy is a 6 year-old girl with Sacral Agenesis, or Caudal Regression Syndrome, which occurs in 1 out of 100,000 births. This rare diagnosis affects the lower half of her body. She has undergone 7 surgeries to aid in bladder and bowel managemet; the development of her lower extremities, and pain management.
She is one of the most compassionate little girls you will ever meet. In the last year she has donated to locks of love, participated in a color race for the Make a Wish foundation, and participated in local charity events. She sings in her school Glee club, plays baseball, and enjoys aquatic therapy. She's best friends with her twin sister, Bonnie-Ray.
In our home now, Lucy faces obstacles every day. It is difficult for her to manuever her chair in the bathroom and around the apartment. She never feels completely free.
We are hoping that our next rental home will accomodate Lucy's wheelchair. We want to live in a place where Lucy can be comfortable and independent; a place where she can be a kid and grow.
A place where she can feel that she, and her wheelchair, belong.
