It takes a village to lift a dream off the ground.

Meet Darrell Turner Cadoree, an ambitious Aviation major at Kansas State University, determined to earn his wings and break barriers in the aviation industry. Darrell is attending school on scholarships, but the cost of flight training remains a significant hurdle. To complete his required flight hours and secure his pilot’s license, he needs to raise $45,000—the final step in achieving his dream of becoming a pilot.

Darrell’s mother has worked tirelessly to help knock down the $45,000 cost, but there is still a long way to go. Despite her efforts, flight training is expensive, and every dollar counts toward keeping Darrell in the air.

Breaking Down the Cost of Flight Training

To earn his pilot’s license, Darrell must complete 1,000 flight hours. Each in-air portion of his training is one hour long and comes at a high cost. Darrell attends flight lab twice a week, and each session includes:

✈️ $500 per session to get into the air (1 flight hour)

$300 per session for the classroom portion of the lab

These costs quickly add up, making it difficult to sustain his training without additional financial support.

Darrell graduated from Richwoods High School with an impressive 3.8 GPA, demonstrating his dedication to academic success. He continues to excel in college, maintaining a 3.8 GPA at Kansas State University while balancing his studies, work, and the joys of college life with the amazing new people he has met.

A Heart for Community

Darrell’s ambition extends beyond the classroom. He has always been deeply involved in his community, volunteering with the homeless, assisting seniors, and mentoring young athletes in the Junior Football League. His passion for giving back is not about fulfilling requirements—it’s about making a difference.
