Homeless and Unemployed as a student at UH Manoa

Donation protected
Hello everybody my name is Alex Wheatley, I’m a student at University of Hawaii Manoa studying Marine Biology, specifically, the process of coral bleaching and how rising temperatures affect coral colonies and their correlation to climate change. I sold everything I owned and gave up my life on the mainland in order to make college a reality for me.

Even though I made sacrifices for my education, I have been effectively evicted and removed from my job because I currently have less than 12 credits registered.

This semester started in January of 2021 and I have lived on campus paying for rent and tuition and the first time they bring up any problems about credits was Friday March 11th which is the last day of school before spring break began, they told me because I was at less than 12 credits I would be evicted so I got in contact with my counselor who was willing to help me try and get past the 12 credit mark but student housing only gave me one hour to fix this before saying “my registration situation cannot be resolved any further” and sending me a formal move out notice, since I was told this I have now had multiple people say that they know students with less than 12 credits in student housing who aren’t being evicted, how is this fair? They told me at a time where offices would be closed for the weekend and there was no way for me to get this resolved, I tried to get the move out extended cause it’s spring break and they denied me so I had to pack all of my things and find a place to stay.

I did manage to find a place on the island to stay, I’m not going to say their name but the person who I was planning on staying with after my removal was an 84 year old man who I had met before, he seemed nice and offered me a place to stay for free so I accepted because I am in a desperate situation. After getting dropped off by my now ex roommates, this man then got me drunk and then came up behind me and groped me and said “don’t panic” and tried to offer me a blowjob within the first hour or so of me being at his place so obviously I’m not staying there anymore.

I didn’t have a place to sleep last night and now I’m couch hoping without a job trying to finish off the school year. I’m trying so hard to keep my life together with all of this happening but I’m also in some medical trouble as well too

I have a tumor like growth returning on my foot, it appeared sometime in early 2020 and then I had to remove it myself on the bathroom floor last year in 2021 cause I don’t have health insurance and still currently do not have insurance and I believe it might be growing back? Even with the job that I’m about to lose I didn’t have health insurance so I’m not sure what to do, I do know I’ll have to pay out of pocket though and I cannot do that currently

Every aspect of my life is telling me to give up and I’m tired of it all but I refuse to let myself go, but I need your help. I need to be able to pay for rent / deposit while also setting up an appointment for the tumor growth and I’m not in a place where I can do that right now - I’ve already given the money to the university and they very literally kicked me to the curb over the weekend. I’d really appreciate it if you could share this and any form of donation to this helps, thank you and I hope you have a good day :)
