HOMELESS FAMILIES IN JAMAICA CAUSED BY FIRE

Donation protected
Hi there, my name is Lauraine. Thank you for taking the time to read and potentially make a donation to help with support.

On Tuesday 19th December 2023, I was awoken in the middle of the night by a call from my nephew in Jamaica. He was calling to let me know that there had been a fire in their neighbourhood and 11 dwellings including his and his grandfathers had been burnt to the ground with very little possessions salvaged.

My nephew and his partner have lived here with 3 children, one of which is 3 weeks old, for 17 years. They have nothing and no where to go. As a family, we have been unable to fully support because of the magnitude of their loss. The authorities in Jamaica are very much aware but are unable to offer immediate emergency help if any at all.

I have started this page in hopes that any money raised will go towards building a new place for him and his family but also to support other individuals in their community who are in desperate need of help.

I absolutely understand the times we are living in and honestly, no amount is too small. I am very grateful for whatever help can be offered at this time.

The profile picture you see has been taken from The Jamaica Star News Instagram feed where this story has been shared.

Again, I express my gratitude in advance for any help you are able to offer.

kindest regards
