My name is Tammie Boyett. My husband, Floyd Boyett and I became homeless 3 months ago. St Vincent de Paul and the VA are and have helped us and we are very grateful. They have helped get us housed and we should be able to move into our new home by March 1st. Floyd is currently in the hospital for the second time for heart failure. We are in need of everything basically you would need in a home. Dishes, cooking utensils, bed linens, curtains, furniture, etc.
Our story : we have lived very blessed life together. Never imagined we would become homeless. We relocated back to Bradenton,fl after COVID hit and Floyd like many others lost his job working as a general superintendent for a large concrete repair company. He restored and made repairs to our state capitol, power sites, crystal river & Jacksonville, airport parking garages. I've known and loved Floyd since I was 14 years of age. We have been married 27years now. I could not imagine my life without him. Good or bad. I've been blessed to have him as part of my life. He has always worked since the day I met him. We used our savings when he lost his job to covid and we were never able to recover. Putting us at risk for if anything bad happened. Clearly bad happened. We had relocated back to Bradenton and being gone for many years we were unaware we were moving into a bad neighborhood. We were robbed 4 months after the move, well over 30 grand was lost. That basically took our knees out. We kept working and I didn't notice the toal it was taking on floyds health but the stress over the past 2& half years has been horrendous. The load being mostly on his back. He went down the first time literally on his knees. We both had gotten the flu part b. A good long term friend took us in since we were living in the woods close to the county's fuel station. This friend has know idea really how much she has helped us. She probably saved Floyd's life. We were there a few days whenI found Floyd passed out on his knees blowing air mattress up for us. I thought he must have pneumonia. What we found out after getting to the hospital was yes he had the flu but he also had heart failure. They went through all the usual steps hoping he could have blockage which surgery could help. But no his heart was simply tired. Pumping at 15percent it's capacity. That was January. St Vincent de Paul was already working with us and they stepped up and put us in a motel while putting us through a rapid rehousing program. He is currently in Sarasota memorial and when released we will be moving into our new home. The Drs have said with medication and proper diet we can work the heart up and the goal is 30 percent. I'm hoping to have Floyd a home where he can focus on his health. Very very grateful to st Vincent de Paul and the VA for getting us this far. We just need a little more help and I'm certain the Lord will provide as he has so far. Our story is not over. We've lived blessed life over the years.Floyd has given so much over the years and his time isn't up yet. Thank you for taking the time to read and for any help you can give. God bless!
We will use the funds to buy furniture, appliances, dishes, cookware, towels, bed linens everything needed to live. I'm asking my daughter who lives a couple hours away to be beneficiary over the funds and help with purchasing and distribution of funds received. Thank you all who have been there for us and continue to help us on our journey back to life!
