Help us Rebuild our life after Homelessness.

Hi, my name is Kye, and I have been homeless, living in a tent, with my 9yo mini Dachshund, for over 7 months. I started this fundraiser in the hope of support from kind hearted people, to help rebuild my camp, and life.

I have lived in the Hawkesbury region of NSW since becoming homeless, and unfortunately I haven’t been eligible for any charity services to help establish my camp and make life a little more easier. It’s been a tough 7 months, and I have made do, till recently.

I am also a former NSW Police Officer who gave 15 years of my life in service for the community. And a single mum with a 10yo daughter.

The recent weather in Sydney over the last few weeks has seen torrential rain and storms. As a result, my camp has been flooded out multiple times now. Each time more and more damage occurs. My camp never had issues with this until now. The rain now floods into my camp, when it never did prior, as if it’s purposely trying to make my life more hell.

Last week, I was hit bad on Wednesday 8th January, then Friday 10th January, 2025. My roof cover tarp has been destroyed with leaks now in various places, it collapsed in multiple areas, water rushed into the “living area” like a small river resulting in water under the tent as it made its way back out. So much of my stuff got wet and ruined.

Then this week, on Wednesday 15th January 2025, I was hit by multiple storms within hours of each other. This time was the worst, and caused the most damaged. I am now needing to replace my tent due to the water damage from the RIVER that rushed in (covered my feet!), tarps, flooring, and more.

It was that bad, that my 10yo daughter who is with me for the holidays, was that upset we had to leave for emergency accommodation.

We returned yesterday to assess the damage and clean up. It breaks my heart to see what’s happened to what I’ve called home for the last 7 months,

Prior to the recent flooding, I had gone to Bunnings for a cheap shovel to dig trenches around my site, but Murphy's Law always finds a way.

I am on priority for housing, however that can take months and months.

My car also needs desperate repairs, which I can’t even save for. Something with the CV or fan belt. I do a lot of driving to and from for my daughter, and my car needs to be safe.

Meanwhile I am not in a position to try and rebuild a camp for myself financially, or have my car fixed.

And that is why I have created this fund raiser. Hoping that people will see my struggles and be kind enough to help.

To help me re-establish myself, after losing much of what I invested in, because of this weather.

With the plan to relocate to higher ground!

Any funds raised that I do not use, I will be donating to Hawkesbury Helping Hands, a nonprofit charity located in Windsor, dedicated to helping the homeless and those in need.
