Homer Grant

Homer Grant, a life long resident of Irons, Michigan, was recently diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer, at the age of 50.
Homer has owned and operated Homer Grant Construction in Irons since 1997, continuing the family business his father began in 1970. Along with his wife Angie, son Brandon, daughter Ashley, the Grants have also continued a family tradition of hard work and quality craftsmanship for clients throughout Northwest Michigan.
In March 2019 the Grant Family was first visited by tragedy when their family home was destroyed by fire. Determined to rebuild, Homer and Angie spent nearly the last 18 months working to rebuild a new home. they did it themselves, bit by bit, all while continuing to maintain their business and work in  their community.
But cancer has brought their lives to a sudden halt.
In addition to the illness which has made it nearly impossible for Homer to work,
he and Angie spend much of their time meeting with doctors, waiting for test results, and pursuing the best treatment available. This includes regular visits to the University of Michigan Cancer Center in Ann Arbor; a round trip of over 400 miles.
Many days they just try to make life feel as normal as possible, spending time with friends and family and their 4 grandchildren, Reagan, Audrey, Zadia, and Ethan.
As an independent contractor, Homer does not have health insurance; while Angie has been able to continue working, her wages do not begin to cover the enormous cost of chemotherapy treatment. Their appeal is urgent: medical costs are a burden no one should have to bear without the mean to pay for them. Their home is still not completed, though members of the community have graciously stepped up to work to complete it.
Homer and Angie and the rest of the Grant Family are determined to beat the cancer. And they know they will. They also know that Homer's  treatment
will be a long process which may change their lives forever.
We ask for your help in this time of need, so that Homer and Angie, their children and grandchildren, can continue to fight for the health and happiness of their husband, father and trusted friend.
