The historical Homer Opera House is a landmark in Champaign County, Illinois. At one time, one of the tallest buildings in the county, it was built in 1902. It is the oldest theater in the county and hosted Sarah Berndhart in 1905. Beyond its theater history including touring groups and local productions, it has served the community as the Homer Village Office, a basketball court, a high school, a dance hall, a grocery store, a bank, a library, bowling alley, and for 20 years a performing theater for local Parkland Community College.

It has hundreds of signatures from past productions over the last century written on all of its stage walls.

The Homer Opera House is now being restored by a local, not-for-profit, theatre company, the Creative Dramatics Workshop, which has been successfully producing shows (over 100) for the past 20 years, mostly with local youth.

The opportunity for the CDW to move to the Homer Opera House couldn't have happened at a better time, as their previous facility in nearby Sidney, IL collapsed in the summer of 2014, but in order to fully restore the Homer Opera House, our 501c3 not-for-profit needs even more support to finish the revival.
