Homer's Heroes for Friends For Life
Donation protected
Hi, guys! As most of you already know (having corresponded with me personally in the past), I'm Gwen Cooper, New York Times bestselling author of the memoir "Homer's Odyssey" and the novel "Love Saves the Day," among other books (published by Random House and Simon and Schuster). But if you wish to learn more about me and my many years of work in animal rescue, you may do so here , here , here , here, and here .
I have done three other successful "Homer's Heroes" fundraisers via GoFundMe.com, which you may see here, here , and here .
My relationship with Friends For Life is long-standing. I visited them in 2013 on my "Love Saves the Day" national no-kill shelter tour (sponsored by Arm & Hammer Litter and Litter Genie). I have been in direct communication with Salise Shuttlesworth , Founder and Executive Director of Friends For Life , several times over the past week to discuss their needs and how Homer's Heroes may best assist their efforts to save animal lives in the wake of Harvey.
100% of the funds raised here will be sent directly to Friends For Life via wire transfer from GoFundMe and then credit card payment to Friends For Life. FFL's needs are great and ongoing--in the immediate short term, they're free providing food, free veterinary care, and emergency shelter for animals left homeless by Harvey. Their own shelter population is likely to triple in the weeks and months ahead, and of course funds will be needed to provide those animals with adequate shelter, care, vetting, and eventual adoption procedures.
And we're going to help them!
Homer would have been 20 this year, and I can think of no better way for Homer's Heroes to honor his memory than by helping to save so many animals in need.
If you donate $100 or more, I will send you an autographed copy of "Homer's Odyssey," "Homer the Ninth Life," or "Love Saves the Day"--your choice! Just foward the email confirmation of your donation (along with your name and mailing address) to gwen(at)gwencooper(dot)com.
Thank you for your support!
