Friends of Jarvis Petty

Update! Local news station interviewed Jarvis on 10/15, and he expresses his gratitude for all those helping him.

Hi! I'm fundraising for Jarvis "Petty" Pettyjohn, who has been doing handyman-type work around my home for the past few months. He is hard-working, kind, and cheerful--with a contagiously positive spirit.

However, on the night of October 10, Jarvis lost everything he had when a fire ravaged his apartment building at the Patriot Plaza Apartments in Jacksonville. Jarvis grabbed his deaf nephew (whom he cares for), brought him to safety, and heroically ran back through the flames to bang on doors and get others out of the burning building.

According to this news article, Jarvis said, "I just feel like like I was in the right place at the right time."

And now Jarvis needs help because he has no home, all of his belongings have been destroyed, and he is down to his last dollars. He doesn't have enough money to continue staying at his hotel, and he could be living in his car within days.

Thank you for whatever you can give. There is no contribution too small to help this hometown hero get back on his feet!

All proceeds go directly to Jarvis.

With much appreciation,
Lisa
