HongKong-Philippines Short-Term Missions

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ, Friends and Family,

Greetings in the Lord! We have something exciting to share with you. God has given us a special opportunity to serve Him overseas this summer.

As some of you may already know, ZS-STM Children English Camp (CEC) is part of a larger short term mission team founded by Chinese Christian Union Church-North, located in Highland Park, Illinois, USA. This ministry team started in 2005 with evangelistic programs, such as large scale evangelistic meetings, medical services, visitations and special workshops for adults in China. The children camps were added in 2007 and English youth camps in 2009 to reach children and youth, and to train and partner with local churches.

By God’s grace and to our joy, the children ministry grew from 1 camp to 4 camps over the years. Many children and families started attending church every year after the week-long camps concluded. These churches began their own year-round children clubs and programs. Many new children workers were discovered and many continued to serve at the camps and year-round children ministries.

It is always the calling of the CEC ministry team to serve children and partner with churches and organizations where God leads. Our program was developed with the intention to assist churches in starting and enhancing their children programs. Our goal is to stay with a church, providing guidance and assistance, for 3-5 years until the church is capable of independently leading their own programs. The duration of our stay varies case by case depending on the individual church’s needs. Local churches are expected to take over as the US team phases out. However, the US team is willing to supply curriculum at the local churches request after the US team is called to new locations.

Although the door to our China ministry has closed, God has given the team an opportunity to serve in both Hong Kong and the Philippines. The team will be joining efforts with Grace Light Church in Hong Kong as they launch their 1st Children English Camp and will also be partnering with missionaries in the Philippines this year. Our team of 13 will be in Hong Kong from July 12 to July 21. And a smaller team of 10 will go to the Philippines from July 22 to July 27. It is our hope and prayer that God will use us to sow seeds and harvest a new generation, and train up a new group of children workers.

Due to the timing of this ministry opportunity, we were not able to make the list of the church’s STM trips this year.  After much prayer, contemplation and discernment, the team feels led by the Holy Spirit to proceed to Hong Kong and the Philippines, as a personal trip.

We are asking you to join us in this new venture by supporting us through prayers and financial support.

Our prayer requests:

1. Pray that the team will pass on the vision, conviction and passion to serve our Lord and to love the children and their families

2. Pray for team members to be good witnesses for Christ in our attitudes, words and actions.

3. Pray for unity and dynamics of the team from the US

4. Pray for preparation of hearts and lessons

5. Pray for our oversea partners as they prepare

6. Pray for the campers and their families 

7. Pray for follow up work of the local churches/organization

8. Pray for good health, safety and protection 

9. Pray for our financial needs as we will not receive any aid from the church. We hope to raise $20,000 as a team. The money raised will be put towards assisting team members with financial difficulties and towards purchasing materials (especially for the Philippine mission).
