Honky Cat's Parathyroid and Bladder SURGERY
Tax deductible
Honkey Cat came to Umbrella of Hope In July 2021 from the San Jose Animal Services Shelter.
He came to rescue in need of eye removal surgery which was successful and completed shortly after he came into the rescue.
His bloodwork was “off” prior and again after his surgery with his calcium levels severely elevated. The veterinarian began tracking his calcium levels while he was waiting for an opening to visit a specialist at VCA Encina Medical Center.
The specialist reviewed his levels and did testing and diagnosed Honky Cat with Hyperparathyroidism.
With his parathyroid glands overproducing calcium for so long he has also developed bladder stones that need to be surgically removed.
They put together a treatment plan which would require the removal of two of his parathyroid glands, removal of his bladder stones, and 24-hour monitoring following his surgery for several days to monitor his calcium levels to ensure they do not drop to quickly which could result in cardiac arrest.
This treatment plan estimate is $7.228.20 to $7,878.20.
If we are unable to raise the funds to cover his treatment plan we will have to choice but to consider Honky Cat a hospice case at just 7 years old.
