Honor Ben Godwin: Aid for His Wife and Son

This GoFundMe is in honor of Benjamin Godwin who lost his life at the early age of 35 on December 3, 2024, in a tragic boating accident when his boat took on water and was capsized in Choctawhatchee Bay on a cold windy evening while boating alone. Rescuers, Anglers, family and friends searched for 3 days before finding Ben. To honor Ben, his wife Jessica Godwin and his 2-year-old son Wyatt, we are raising funds to go directly to support Ben's immediate family. Ben leaves a $15,000 mortgage which we would like to secure for his stay-at-home wife and for his child. Additionally, we are establishing a Custodial IRA for Ben's son Wyatt. These funds will go directly to Wyatt's custodial IRA. The funds will be accessible to Wyatt when he is 18 or 21 and they can only be accessed for college funds, or to buy his first home, or to retire upon at a later age. This GoFundMe is managed by Mike Brown. Ben was one of my closest friends. Ben was on the water almost daily. He loved to fish, boat and search for Native American pottery and arrowheads along our shorelines. He regularly traveled up the local rivers exploring nature. A place he felt most at home.
