Honor Bob Buschini: Support Veterans Housing
Tax deductible
Serving in the military, and in particular being in active combat during wartime, is a deeply formative experience. Our father, Bob Buschini, was drafted and served on the front lines during the Vietnam War, and is among the lucky Veterans who were able to return home in good physical health and back into a loving family and community. In later life our Dad often talked about his experiences during his service, and his concern for the ongoing welfare of military Veteran's ran deep.
In thinking about the best way to honor our Dad, we considered options associated with nature and the preservation of natural spaces, which he also cared deeply about. Ultimately, we felt pulled towards providing funds that could transform the life of a veteran by providing housing stability.
After research and personal conversations with leaders in the organizations we reached out to, we wish to fund the work of Veterans Community Project. VCP offers homeless Veteran's (and their pets & partners, if they have them), stable housing in a fully-equipped small home community. They select the most needy Veterans, many of whom have been chronically unhoused. Because the challenges of this community can be complex, VCP also provides wrap-around support services including physical and mental health care.
After an average stay of 12-18 months, Veteran's are ready and supported to transition into permanent housing, and they are able to take all of the furnishings and housewares provided in their VCP home with them.
Our $15,000 goal provides for the full preparation of a small home for a new Veteran to move in: painting, repairs & upgrades, as well as all new furnishings and housewares. This amount also provides the funding for the suite of support services Veteran's utilize during their stay.
Thank you for joining us in making a sustainable difference in the life of a Veteran, and in doing so honoring the life and service of our father, Bob.
