Honor Captain Chuck Battles with a Memorial

I'm Krystle Beltran, the Major at the Region 1 Training Academy. We are currently raising funds to create a memorial in Captain Charles "Chuck" Battles honor that will be placed here at the Training Academy for all to enjoy. He began his Texas Department of Criminal Justice career in 1987 where he worked as a correctional officer and promoted through the ranks of Lieutenant at several different units and Inmate Transportation retiring in 2009 after serving 22 years. He then returned in 2010 as a correctional officer and worked his way back through the ranks to Captain in the Training and Leader Development Division. During his tenure at the Region 1 Training Academy. He was a positive influence in many lives. In 2015, he was recognized as the Training Sergeant of the year and was a vital member of the Crisis Negotiation Team for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. He spent a total of 38 years with the agency. He was the true definition of a leader; he influenced others towards a common goal daily and was truly a mentor and has left a legacy within the agency.
