Honor Christina’s Memory by Helping With Funeral Expenses
Donation protected
In memory of my sister Christina, I have set up a GoFundMe to help with funeral expenses.
Christina battled a lot of demons and fought addiction for many years and sadly her addiction won the fight on June 23, 2024. My big sister passed away despite her every effort to conquer this disease. As we try to navigate through this period of devastation and unexpected loss, we are not only affected with a million emotions but it has also placed unforeseen financial strains due to funeral expenses.
Addiction is difficult. It’s extremely painful and messy. It leaves a shell of a person who will do anything to make themselves feel better. Anyone who knew Christina, knew of her demons, but also knew about all of her wonderful qualities. Christina wasn’t always an addict. She used to be so much more than the drugs that took hold of her. She was energetic and funny and loving and kind. And don’t get me wrong, these qualities shined through even despite all the pain she was in, but our sober Christina was also capable of genuine happiness and that’s what we missed the most - seeing her happy. She had a heart of gold. She was so much more than what the drugs made her into. So as we try to process this loss, we also grieve the loss of who she was outside of the addiction. She wasn’t and will never be just her mistakes. Memories of her life and the good things she did overflow and remind us all that she was so much more than just a drug addict - she was a daughter, a sister, an aunt, and a mother.
One of Christina’s biggest reasons for wanting to fight to get clean was for her daughters. She wanted nothing more than to become the mother her girls truly deserved. She loved them both immensely. They didn’t lose a drug addict, they lost their mom. They lost the only one that could ever truly fill that role and give them the love only a mother could truly give. Now they will only ever have the idea and memory of her love. They will only have photos and stories in place of the mother that this disease robbed them of. Her girls will never get to one day see the best version she could have been. Nothing will ever fill the void they will carry throughout their lives. So it's up to us to do our absolute best to share with them all the good memories we have of her so that they know just how much we all loved her and how much she tried so hard to love them.
With your help and support, our aim is to raise enough funds to assist with immediate expenses to hopefully make this very difficult time just a little easier on us all. All of the donations collected will go towards the funeral expenses and any extra proceeds will be put into an account for her daughters.
We want to thank you in advance and are so grateful for any and all donations given. I know Christina was grateful to every single person who helped her through the years, and so I know even now she’d be grateful for everyone’s love and support for her memory and her girls' futures.
Your compassion and generosity during this difficult time mean more than words can express.
Thank you from the bottom of all of our hearts.
