Honor Curtis Halverson's Legacy of Service

Donation protected
Curtis Lloyd Halverson was born on February 25, 1940, in rural Hutchinson, MN. He spent his life serving others while doing the things he loved. He served in the United States Coast Guard, stationed in Puerto Rico. Later, he spent much of his life farming corn and soybeans and working for the county shop near Lindstrom, MN. Fishing was his passion; throughout the years, he fished whenever he could find the time and often spent weekends up in Mille Lacs catching Walleye. When the opportunity arose to buy a place on Malone Island and fish full-time, he and his wife Bonnie moved to Isle, MN.
On “the island,” they joined a vibrant community of friends who were very special to Curt. He loved to be “the guy you call” when you need help. He was always looking for another job to do with his beloved Bobcat. He enjoyed his breakfasts at the Dari-Vi, and going out to eat with Bonnie at other local restaurants. Curt was in his element running launches and teaching on the lake. As much as he loved to catch a big one himself, it made him even happier to see others learning to fish and appreciate a day’s catch.
Curt passed away on August 25, 2024, at Elim Medical Center in Milaca, where he received loving and compassionate Hospice Care at the age of 84.
Curt was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, husband, son, brother, and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Bernice Halvorson, and brother, Roger Halvorson.
Curt will be fondly remembered by his wife Bonnie, his brother David (Carol) Halvorson, the Halverson children, Julie (Dawn), Curtis (Tracy), and Kimberly, and grandchildren Zachary, Dylan and Olivia; Bonnie’s daughters, Lisa (Scott) Roberts and Lori (Mike) Green, and grandchildren Kristina (Jamie) Sims, Jessie Roberts, Kaycee (Rob) Rogers, Jennifer Roberts, Kyle (Chrishaun) Green, Kaydie Green, Kennedy (Dylan) Hovland, Karsen (Hailey) Green, and many great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at Methven Funeral Home in Isle MN on Saturday, September 28, 2024 from 1:00pm-3:00pm.

In lieu of flowers and monetary gifts for Bonnie, you may make a cash, check or online contribution to the Curtis L. Halverson Memorial Fund. The funds will be used to honor Curt’s memory in service to others.
