Honor Dakota ThuyVy Lam with a Scholarship for FVHS
Donation protected
Dakota ThuyVy Lam, a recent graduate of FVHS, was planning to attend UCLA and try out for the Women Golf Team. Unfortunately, Dakota suffered a brain hemorrhage on October 16 and was declared brain-dead on October 20, 2024. Her parents, Nghia Lam and Kim Nguyen, made a very difficult and heart-breaking decision to donate all of their only child's organs to save as many lives as possible. Donating her organs would fulfill Dakota's wishes to repay the blood products she had received from other donors during her four-years battle with ITP disease. The courage and resiliency Dakota demonstrated in over-coming a major stroke to do well in both academically and golf was truly inspiring. Dakota loved to play golf. Dakota had a generous spirit and she was a beautiful, kind-hearted daughter, grand daughter, niece, cousins and friend. Words cannot describe what a wonderful person Dakota was and her passing is a tremendous loss for her parents and her extended family. To keep Dakota's courage and memory alive, a scholarship fund will be set up by her parents for deserving FVHS students who exhibit outstanding courage both academically and other activities in the sports of life.
Funeral service for Dakota ThuyVy Lam is planned for Sat 11/2/24 at Heritage-Dilday Funeral Home in Huntington Beach. In lieu of flowers if you would like to contribute to the scholarship fund, it would be greatly appreciated. Additional funeral service information will be updated when available.
I am Hieu Lam, as the fund raising organizer and Dakota's uncle, I will distribute all donations to the scholarship fund that Dakota's parents will set up for FVHS students.
