Honor Dana's Memory with a Celebration
Donation protected
Our sister Dana finished her long walk home in the early morning hours of Saturday, September 7th. She was in the most beautiful place, in no pain, surrounded by family and all the love. After the almost 10-year struggle Dana had... we are so proud of her. She not only gave us the chance to hold her hand & say all the things, give a lifetime of kisses and hugs... but also do so much healing ourselves. We no longer believe in coincidences but rather that things happen to fall into place as they should. The number of times we've almost seen our sister slip away from us and didn't, made us see that she wasn't meant to go any of those ways. She was too loved to die alone. Too precious to feel afraid. Too beautiful to not be comfortable and warm and surrounded by her family. After the long fight, her body just needed to rest.
In the end and throughout her struggles, it was no surprise hearing people say how kind she was... how much they adored her... how special they knew she was. It made us realize that even in her darkest moments, Dana still would try shining her light onto others. Because that's who she was. Always giving. Always caring. Always loving everyone so much more than she could love herself.
We thought long and hard about Dana's funeral arrangements. And we don't want that. Dana's life was filled with so much sadness and darkness. We would like to celebrate her life in a brighter way. We're aiming to find a place to do a celebration of life next month, October 12th, on her birthday. One last birthday party for our dear sister. She always did love a good party. If you can find it in your hearts to give a donation to help host this party she deserves... we would be forever grateful. Any proceeds left, the family would like to make a donation in Dana's honor to Christopher House. We cannot articulate how amazing and wonderful this place was. They are a non-profit organization that will not turn people away regardless of insurance or ability to pay. Due to the wait list, we are so fortunate she was placed at this facility. The staff was so compassionate, caring, and comforting. An overwhelming sense of peace came over each of us as we entered those doors and as we left, we are forever changed.
