Honoring Unkie D's Final Wishes

I have never had to ask for help financially, so this is a struggle.

Darrell Huston, my uncle but more than anything my dad, passed away today from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA). He didn't have any children but always treated myself and the rest of my cousins like we were his own.

Darrell was the most positive person and the biggest jokester! He was so humorous and a delight to be around! My childhood friends absolutely loved him and always enjoyed his company.

Darrell was always very supportive and never failed to show unconditional love. He wasn't a fan of family drama and wanted nothing more than to try to be the peacemaker. He enjoyed 4th of July family gatherings that he loved hosting at our family property in Littlerock.

Unkie D taught me how to drive and introduced me to my favorite game of Texas Hold'em when I was young. He would pick me up from school when I was sick, talk to me for hours and tell me stories about people in his life that I never knew, and would tell me the same story even if he already told me a hundred times . I looked up to this man more than he knew. He was a huge influence in my life. I will forever be grateful to have had the opportunity to have him be such a huge piece of my life and someone who truly shaped me into who I am today. His quick witted, sarcastic and spunky attitude will always live on with me.

I am essentially the next of kin for my uncle and the baby of our family. As far as I know, he doesn't have a living will or a life insurance policy that would cover his last wishes.

My uncle made it clear that he did not want to be cremated. I would like to honor his wishes, but we know funeral costs are extremely expensive, and I do not have the means on my own to afford to lay my uncle to rest in the way he wished.
