Honor Dashawn Jenkins with a Dignified Goodbye

My name is Edward. On March 31, 2025, my brother Dashawn Jenkins passed away at Rikers Island. He was the fifth person to die in custody. My family would like answers, but the facility and medical examiner have not given us any answers. The family would like to give him the proper farewell, but we are going through financial hard times. My brother passed away one day after his 27th birthday.

Dashawn was adopted by my mother at the age of two. Due to his mother's drug abuse when he was a baby, he faced many challenges. There were a lot of services he would need, and we were told he would not have a normal life. In addition to providing him with help and services, my mother provided him with love and care. It was her pleasure to take him to church and provide him with opportunities.

He was adversely affected by the street life. We are devastated and we would greatly appreciate any help you can give us.
