Honor Harry Spitz: Replace His Stolen Gravestone

Donation protected
Harry Spitz, three years old, died of cholera infantum in 1912. He was buried in an unmarked grave in Oak Grove Cemetery, Morgantown, WV, where he remained until 1975 when his grave exploded.

(To learn more about Harry’s life and afterlife, check out Cradle Will Rock, a podcast from Appalachian Mysteria.)

When Harry was re-buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in 1975, a small gravestone was added in his remembrance. Recently, in an act of profound disrespect, Harry’s gravestone was stolen.

Two members of the Morgantown community, Jeremy Bryan and his wife Samantha, have purchased a new gravestone for Harry. Please consider chipping in to help offset the cost.

Jeremy and Samantha own a small business, Morgantown Handyman, and will set the gravestone themselves once the engraving is complete.

Any funds in excess of the cost of the gravestone will be donated to the Monongalia County Child Advocacy Center.
