Honor Lynwood Janet Palmer's Legacy: Help Us Return Her Home

Donation protected
Lynwood "Janet" Shaw-Palmer affectionately known as Janet, was not just a mother and grandmother; she was also a devoted wife, sister, aunt, friend and role model of love and strength for her entire family. Her recent journey from Jamaica to the United States was fueled by her desire to create a better life for her loved ones. Alongside her husband, Janet worked diligently to provide for their five children—four boys and one girl. Her bond with her siblings was also strong, as she maintained close ties and offered unwavering support and love to her family members.

Known for her culinary skills, Janet delighted in cooking and baking. Her black fruit cakes were a holiday tradition, and her fried escovitch fish was a family staple, often enjoyed with rice & peas or fried breadfruit. Janet also had a talent for mixing natural fruit drinks, with carrot juice and passion fruit juice being among her specialities. These dishes were more than just meals; they were expressions of her love and a way to bring her family together.

Family was the core of Janet's life. She believed deeply in the spirit of togetherness and was always willing to do anything for her family. Janet was a woman of service, finding joy in the happiness she brought to others. Her infectious laugh and gentle kindness made her a cherished figure in her church and community. She was active in her church, where she loved to sing and participate in service ministries, often preparing meals for those in need. She especially had a gift for administering to children.

The family was anticipating the next chapter in her life filled with joy and hope as she embarked on this exciting journey. Janet went to Baltimore Maryland to be with her youngest son (Military Reservist) and his wife. She has an unwavering love for her children; equipping them with key values and life lessons which they instilled in their children. She was a proud grandmother of five, four girls and one boy. The prospects of having access to greater opportunities to care for her family brought excitement which was shared by all.

Tragically, Janet's life was cut short when she suddenly collapsed at home. Her daughter-in-law's quick response and the paramedics' efforts could not save her. She was rushed to the hospital where the medical staff did everything they could to no avail. Janet has gone from this world, leaving behind all she holds so dear. Her hopes and dreams for tomorrow will now be realized through her children. The family is heartbroken, struggling to come to terms with the devastating loss of such a central and beloved figure.

In the face of this profound sorrow, the family finds strength in their faith and the support of their community. Janet's life was a testament to her deep faith and her dedication to the well-being of others. The family takes comfort in knowing she is now at peace, surrounded by the love of the angels.

The unexpected financial burdens of arranging a proper farewell for Janet have left the family seeking assistance. They wish to honor her memory by returning her to Jamaica for her final resting place. In this moment of need, the family humbly appeals for help, knowing that every contribution, whether financial or through prayers and kind words, will help them honor her life and legacy.

Janet's legacy of love, faith, and service will continue to inspire her family and all who knew her. The family expresses their deepest gratitude for the outpouring of support during this challenging time and finds strength in the cherished memories of Janet's remarkable life. Her roles as a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend will forever be remembered and celebrated.
