Honor John David Hommer's Legacy:

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the tragic passing of our beloved John David Hommer. On September 20, 2024, the family of John received the most heartbreaking and devastating news a family should never have to get. John was in a fatal motorcycle accident. He was heading westbound on Highway 7 in Minnetrista, Minnesota.

John was a loving son to Dave Hommer and Kelli Zimmerman. He was also a very generous and protective brother to his four siblings: Madeleine, Ella, Annabelle, and Nathaniel. His family meant everything to him, and he was and always will be extremely loved by his family. He was very close to his dad but also a momma's boy.

John has been in a 5-year very committed and loving relationship with his beautiful fiancée and soulmate, Lauren Wright. They would do everything together. Lauren even took up riding because it was something that he was so passionate about. John was also Lauren's biggest cheerleader while she continued her education in medical school. I never saw two young people more in love than John and Lauren. They were true soulmates in every way imaginable.

John has made so many friends along his journey. It seems as though once you were in John's life, you were always a part of it, even if you didn't talk to him every day. He was the type of friend who made that special impact and made you feel as though no time had passed. He had his friends from school, kids he grew up with, and his motorcycle community. This community meant the world to John, and he meant the same to them. He was always striving for people to progress and helping them get there. He had a nickname for them, the Degreasers. If you know, you know. He friended my son Jordan when we first moved to Waconia. They have been best friends ever since. My son said to me that he took care of me and I took care of him. They were chasing dreams and traveling the country together. John was and will always be a part of our family.

John was the type of friend who would give the shirt off his back to anyone at any time. His generosity went over and beyond. He was loyal, funny, hardworking, very servant-like, selfless, and always put others first before himself. He was also one of the bravest humans I have ever met.

John loved Lauren, his family, and his friends with his entire heart and soul. Everyone that he came into contact with he treated with kindness and respect.

To honor his legacy, we are coming together to help his family during this tragic time. The funds will go directly to assist with funeral expenses, and any additional support the family may need as they navigate this heartbreaking loss. I also know that they are seeking a charity for motorcycle awareness.

Remembering John gives us both joy and sorrow. Thus, I cannot fathom the pain that Dave, Kelli, Madeleine, Ella, Annabelle, Nathaniel, Lauren, and all his friends and family are going through.

I just ask that you please pray for peace, strength, and comfort.

Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Freshwater Community Church (138 West 1st Street) in Waconia with Rev. Jason Lang as the Officiant. Visitation from 12 PM until the time of service.
