Honor Kristina Sullivan's Legacy of Service

My mother Kristina, was my hero. She passed away from a heart attack last month. She was an amazing mother and grandmother who taught me what dedication, work ethic and patriotism really mean. She was a 20 year Air Force Veteran, being apart of the first deployments to the Middle East after 9/11. In her civilian career, she was an accomplished detective and SWAT team member with the Milwaukee County Sheriff’s Department.
I hope to continue her legacy of service and support organizations that improve the lives of military families.
The following is her obituary:
Kristina Sullivan, a devoted mother, grandmother, and lifelong servant to her community, passed away unexpectedly on October 30, 2024, surrounded by her family at Froedtert Hospital in Milwaukee. Her sudden passing leaves a profound emptiness, but her legacy of love, service, and dedication endures.
Kristina met her beloved husband, Paul Sullivan, of 35 years, while at Marquette University, sharing a bond rooted in patriotism and service, studying Criminal Justice. While at Marquette, Kristina excelled as an athlete on the track team, competing at Nationals in both the 2-mile and 800-meter events. Her passion for fitness and competition continued throughout her life; she could often be found paddle boarding, kayaking, running, hiking, and seeking new adventures through travel.
Kristina dedicated her career to the Milwaukee County Sheriff's Department and the Wisconsin Air National Guard, embodying the values of courage, loyalty, and selflessness in all she did. Her unwavering commitment to her community and her country was matched only by her devotion to her family.
Beyond her professional and athletic achievements, Kristina's greatest joy was her family. She was a loving mother to her children, Nathan (Rachel) Sullivan of Cottage Grove, Wisconsin, and Colleen Sullivan of Tucson, Arizona, and a devoted grandmother to Keegan (16), Elizabeth (10), Erin (9), and Harley (2). She was always present for their milestones and adventures, traveling the country to support them. Her willingness to be present and care for her family was unwavering.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Sullivan, and her mother, Janis Keyser. Kristina's memory will be cherished by her family and friends, her colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
