Honor Lorraine Romero: Support Funeral Costs

Donation protected
Hello. My name is Gus Romero. I am here to raise money for my mother's funeral expenses. Her name is Lorraine Vegas Romero. Mom worked at North Suburban Medical Center in Thornton, Colorado, for 34 years. She likely helped thousands of people over that time by admitting thousands of patients for surgeries, procedures, and hospital stays.

Lorraine was born in 1949 in San Mateo, California, but lived her life in Colorado. She grew up in Denver with 6 brothers and 2 sisters and was part of a very big, loving family with plenty of uncles, aunts, and cousins.
She married in 1969 and had two children, myself and my sister Leslie Ann.
After a divorce in 1982, Lorraine remained single and gave her life to her career and her children. She also had 3 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Lorraine was known and loved by many people who all have such wonderful stories to tell. She would love to come home and share work stories with her children about how random strangers would make her things and bring her gifts just to thank her for touching their lives. She was known as a giver with a tremendous heart who was able to make anyone feel special and important. She was one of a kind.

Lorraine sadly passed away on August 20th, 2024, due to complications from heart disease, pneumonia, kidney infection, and liver disease. She fought a great fight, but in the end, her tiny body could not handle the stresses of this life any longer.

We want to honor her in the best way we can by giving her a modest traditional funeral with a burial in the same garden as her brothers and her mother. My sister and I have been dealt a steady stream of bad luck since, as we found out that while our mother was on disability, North Suburban fired her, eliminating her life insurance and 401K. This was rather devastating as we only wanted to give her this last wish. The funeral is on September 20th at Olinger's Highland Mortuary in Thornton, Colorado. On September 6th, our landlord called and wants my sister and I to vacate the premises. We were only 6 days late, but she did not want to do business with me although I am on the lease. If that wasn't enough, the Credit Union my mother banks at, Horizons North Credit Union, repossessed her car without notice so now my sister and I also have no transportation. I suppose when it rains, it pours.

I do know that although it looks very grim, I have to hold on to some kind of hope that we will get through this. Perhaps with God's help, and yours, we can pay the bill at Olinger's Mortuary. Perhaps you knew my mother or maybe worked with her. You may be related or a long-time friend. We are grateful that you filled her heart with purpose and love.

It may seem like a rather large task, but I believe that with God, anything is possible. Thank you for reading. God bless you!
