Michel Chataigne: 40 Years of Haitian Art, Fashion & Resilience
For four decades, Michel Chataigne has been a beacon of creativity and hope in Haitian fashion and beauty. Starting his career at just 19 in Haiti, he has dedicated his life to celebrating and elevating the best of Haitian art—transforming the way we see beauty and style in our culture.
Michel isn’t just a talented hair stylist; he’s a visionary who has worked with Haiti’s first ladies and led groundbreaking projects like Haiti Fashion Week. His work has created hundreds of jobs and empowered countless professionals in the industry. Through his school, he has mentored a new generation of stylists and makeup artists, including trailblazers like Valrie Villain and Maikadou, who now continue his legacy.
Today, as Haiti faces many challenges, Michel stands as a symbol of resilience and hope. To mark his 40-year milestone, he is launching a new collection in collaboration with six promising young Haitian designers—a collection that celebrates the rich cultural heritage of Haiti and inspires the next generation of creators.
Supported by Haiti Cultural Exchange, Michel is inviting you to join him at his residency in New York this March. The event will feature a heartfelt exhibition, a dynamic fashion show, and inspiring conversations that showcase his lifetime of work. It’s not just a celebration of Michel’s journey—it’s a tribute to Haiti, its art, and its indomitable spirit.
Your donation will empower Michel and his dedicated team to dream big and share the beauty of Haiti with the world. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps us bring this vision to life and honor a legacy that has touched so many lives.
Please donate now and help us make this historic celebration a reality.
Thank you for your support.
