Support Schubert Graber Cabin & 1776 War Tombstone Cleaning
Tax deductible
This is a great opportunity to honor the soldiers of our battle for independence which will celebrate its 250th Anniversary, while supporting our Shubert-Graber Log Post Cabin restoration project!
To inspire your support and donations, we will be attempting to clean 250 Revolutionary War tombstones in various cemeteries primarily located in Lehigh, Northampton, and Berks counties of Eastern PA. You have an opportunity to sponsor the cleaning of a stone, and we will provide, upon request, a before and after photo of your sponsored stone. If you prefer we will clean your loved ones' stones if desired in lieu of a Revolutionary War tombstone, provided they are located in one of these counties.
In conjunction with America's 250th Anniversary, the Hivel Und Dahl (Hill and Dale) Preservation Society, a 501(c)(3), is raising matching funds to restore the Schubert-Graber log cabin, a 1760 log and post building. This cabin is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as of 2018.
The log cabin is in urgent need of repair. There are 5 phases to the cabin restoration project with an overall cost of nearly $300,000.
The matching funds would help us begin Phase 1 which includes numbering each log and disassembling the cabin. When the project is completed, this will be an educational teaching center for school field trips and local events. We continue to be a stop on the Lehigh Valley Log Cabin Tour.
A $100 donation will sponsor a military headstone, and $200 will fund cleaning up to 4 family headstones. Any and all donations are appreciated and may be tax deductible based on your individual situation.
