Honor Shelly's Legacy: Support Missy's Future Education

As one of Shelly's grandchildren, I am deeply saddened to share news of her passing. We are grateful for her beautiful life and her passion for education as a career-long elementary teacher. She held a deep belief in bettering one's self through education. We are honoring her legacy in support the future education of her trusted health aid's daughter, Missy, with whom she shared a special bond in her final years. All funds collected will be transferred to an account for this purpose.

RACHELLE BENETT (nee GADE) Of Penn Valley, PA, 86, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on August 29, 2024. She was predeceased by her husband Dr. Irving Benett and is survived by her children Dr. Jodi Benett (Dr. Michael Sobel) and Halle Benett (Karen); and her grandchildren Marisa, Andrea, Kyle, Jordan and Sydney. Growing up in the Bronx, NY, she was surrounded by music and the arts and became an accomplished pianist herself having graduated from the NY High School of Music and Art. An avid theater attendee her whole life, Shelly, as she was known, loved sharing theater experiences with family and friends. Shelly was a life-long elementary school educator and taught children around the country wherever their family moved. Shelly obtained her Master’s degree in teaching while with her family in Texas. After 35+ years teaching, 15 years spent serving the Paterson, NJ community, she continued tutoring students after retirement in January 2001. Shelly strongly believed in the power of education, for herself and those around her. Her family has established an education fund for Missy, the daughter of Shelly’s trusted and dedicated home health aid in her last years of life. This is the embodiment of Rachelle's strong belief in bettering one's self through education. Relatives and friends are invited Monday, September 2, 2024 beginning 10:30 A.M. to Crescent Memorial Park, 7349 Westfield Avenue, Pennsauken, NJ where Funeral Services will begin promptly at 11:00 A.M.
