Bronze Statue to Honor Skagit Deputy Diane Sargent

Dear Citizens,

To raise funds to Honor Skagit County Corrections Deputy Diane Lynn Sargent, in a full-size bronze, created by Honorable Sculptures Inc., AustinWeishel.com. This life size bronze statue will honor Diane and her 28 years of service that began in 1986 as a Skagit County Corrections Deputy. Diane was a trailblazer in her field, one of the first women to compete against men and excel in her role. She dedicated 28 years of her life to ensuring the safety of our community. Diane was forced to retire after a Line of Duty Injury in 2015. Tragically Diane died from a brain injury as a result of a Line of Duty injury on February 17, 2024. Her service is planned for April in Mount Vernon Washington.

The renowned bronze artist Austin Weishel, of Honorable Structures Inc will create the bronze. Austin has a passion for creating bronzes that honor first responders and those that support them. The statue will be placed adjacent to the Public Park Gilkey Square in the quaint little Town of La Conner WA, Skagit County for all citizens, and tourists to admire and enjoy. Diane was not just a hero in her professional life, but also a dedicated mother, volunteer and community member. Her son Kolby and daughter-in-law Melissa cared for her after her injury, and they along with myself are committed to seeing this tribute come to life.
