Please join us in honoring Sonia Christina Vega (12/29/84- 7/2/24), a beloved community member whose presence on the pedestrian plaza will be deeply missed. Miss Chrissy was dedicated to helping children and families in Jersey City, making a lasting impact on countless lives.
For decades, Miss Chrissy selflessly served her community in numerous ways: working as a therapy assistant for neurodivergent children at Sensory Kids & Social Minds, teaching dance to children and beginners at Kennedy Dancers, helping to pioneer a martial arts classes for children with special needs at JC Taekwondo. She was a committed presence at the Whole Spectrum's Annual Autism Gala, contributed to civic organizations like the Lions Club, and distributed free turkeys to local families in need every Thanksgiving for years. Sonia Christina was a daily presence on Newark Avenue, ensuring the safety of children as they navigated the area, earning her the title of the “Sentinel of the Pedestrian
Plaza."
Funds raised will be matched by her family to erect a memorial plaque on the pedestrian plaza, where Chrissy spent so much of her time. This plaque will serve as a lasting tribute to her dedication to our community. Thank you for your support.
