Honoring a Hero: Support the family of John E. Holmes, III

Donation protected
John E. Holmes, III was a loving father and husband who made a lasting positive impact on everyone blessed enough to know him. John will be remembered for his kind and loving soul, and for always going the extra mile to get a smile from those around him.

John bravely served as an Infantry Rifleman in the United States Marine Corps, and this fund is organized by his brothers in arms to provide support to his family. John leaves behind his wife, Nashaly, and his two-year-old daughter. Amongst the outpouring of support, Mom and baby have much to do following John's passing, including up front costs for moving, estate administration, and service arrangements. All donations will go directly to the family.

After his service, John became deeply involved in the Charlotte community and his mission to make communities like his own accessible and safe for all. John advocated for equitable city infrastructure and redesigning urban spaces to be safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and transit riders. John himself was an avid cyclist.

In 2022, John co-founded a local activism group in Charlotte, called the "Charlotte Urbanists" to change the public discussion in the city around urban issues, including improvements to bus stop sites in underserved areas.

No matter where he was, John constantly strived to make the world a better place. He will be remembered fondly, and missed deeply.
