Honoring Alexa Stonebarger
Donation protected
On Saturday, March 5, the world lost Alexa Stonebarger.*
Alexa's entire life revolved around making the world better for others, especially others marginalized and neglected by the powerful.
During her tragically short life, Alexa:
- Worked 100 hour weeks at animal rescues,
- Spent weekends captioning to make images accessible to people with visual impairments,
- Spearheaded an international project to create humane and effective methods for rat population control,
- Directly rescued, housed, and cared for hundreds of animals in microsanctuaries,
- Launched a national initiative to move meat-eating dog companions onto excess meat byproducts,
- Supported hundreds of other advocates working to change the world, and
- Educated hundreds of thousands through her popular social media outreach projects centered on accessibility, mental illness, sexual violence, veganism, animal rescue, positive reinforcement dog training, and spreading love and acceptance for rats, chickens, bully breeds, and even insects.
The world is far worse without Alexa in it. The funds raised by this campaign to honor Alexa will be used to support the work to which Alexa most recently dedicated her life, improving the welfare of urban animals with contraceptive-based population control.
*Some of you will know Alexa by "Lex," and by "she" or "they." In the last year of her life, Alexa accepted all of these names and pronouns.
