Honoring Bobbie Blevins: Help Her Make Her Final Journey
Donation protected
A CHAMPION for dogs gained her own wings and crossed the Bridge last night - and we envision the hundreds of lost, stray, abused and neglected animals she saved who went before her, led by sweet Junie, meeting her with eager kisses as she arrived!
Our dear friend Bobbie Lea Blevins, a spectacular volunteer tracker and trapper, unexpectedly passed away in Louisville, Kentucky Saturday, August 31. She had recently battled and won her fight with Lymphoma and four horrific rounds of intense chemotherapy. We are bereft as a close knit tribe of friends, who put animal welfare ahead of everything else.
If you never met her, you missed an incomparable friendship. If you were lucky enough to know her as we did, you were blessed beyond measure by her compassion, kindness, loyalty, strategic thinking, sense of humor, and above all, an unsurpassed dedication to saving dogs at all costs - no matter what the self-inflicted injuries, weather or terrain.
The last few years have been extremely rough on Bobbie and lifelong soulmate Dee, and we would very much like to take the pressure off uncovered expenses, including transport to her beautiful Bradshaw Mountain family cemetery in West Virginia for internment with generations of family members.
Any additional funds collected will be used to support a fund honoring Bobbie’s memory and her love for the furbabies in need. So, if you ever have found a dog, lost a dog, reached out for help with a dog’s medical expenses, Bobbie likely had a part in a good outcome. Even through her chemo treatments, up to within moments of her passing, Bobbie constantly perused the lost and found pages, matching and facilitating returns home, educating and inspiring others to do better.
As heartbroken as we are as a community, the work continues in her honor today and every day.
A special request to keep Dee and their beloved rescue Tildy in your good thoughts, as this is a surreal time for them.
Please give as generously as Bobbie always has of her time, talent and resources. She is irreplaceable and leaves a huge void in our rescue world as well as a giant hole in our hearts.
