Honoring Carey Miller: Supporting His Family

Carey Miller was a cherished colleague, a loyal friend, a supportive loving husband, a dedicated father, and an inspiring basketball coach and mentor to many students. His unexpected departure has left a profound void in the lives of all who knew him.

Carey devoted the bulk of his time to Hoover High school pouring into students while wearing many hats. He served as classroom assistant in the special education dept, the girls basketball coach and worked the schools after-school program. His infectious smile, enthusiasm and unwavering support made every day brighter at Hoover. As a friend, he was the person you could always count on, offering a listening ear and sound advice.

As a basketball coach, Carey was a guiding light for countless young athletes. He believed in the power of sports to teach life lessons, and he mentored his players with a unique blend of discipline and compassion. His impact on his students extended far beyond the basketball court, shaping their character and inspiring them to reach their full potential even when they themselves didn't see it. He never gave up on any of them.

Carey leaves behind his beloved wife, Dee whom he loved dearly and talked about on a daily basis to anyone that would listen, as well as two daughters. The loss of such a central figure in their lives is unimaginable, and they are now faced with navigating this challenging time without him.
