Honoring Cody Stewart’s Memory with Love
Donation protected
Cody Allen Stewart, aged 19, passed away Sunday, December 29, 2024 from a fatal gunshot wound. He was the beloved, protective, funny, and kind older brother to Marcus and Natalie Stewart, and the younger brother to Morghan Stewart. Cody is survived by them and his father, Ross Stewart. Despite the tragic circumstances surrounding his death, Cody is now able to rest in peace with his late mother, Kathy Stewart.
At this time the family is looking for donations to cover the costs of cremation. Due to the nature of his death, it’s not believed a viewing or visitation is possible and cremation has been recommended as the best option to put his body finally at ease. The costs of basic (aka direct) cremation services, the basic urn, and necessary certificates to close out his remaining accounts are covered by roughly $5,000.
The burial and “celebration of life” will occur at a later date. Details will be sent to those close to Cody and the family.
There will be additional costs for the burial, headstone, and any funeral/celebration of life services, so any amount donated over this initial $5,000 will be saved for these expenses.

My name is Morghan Stewart. I’m Cody’s older sister as you read above or already know. If you were able to help provide myself and our family with answers to the question of “what happened,” I send you my sincerest thanks and gratitude. We may never know “why” he was taken from us in the way he was. But we’re working with the City of Denton police and following the investigation closely as it progresses.
In the meantime, our family just wishes to make sure Cody’s body, personal possessions, and legacy is safe and celebrated. Any amount you can donate truly is helpful and we are all forever grateful. The end goal is to bury Cody next to or with our late mother in New Mexico, but that’s a process just given certain logistics.
The outreach of kind words, support, and love from the community has been wonderful. We know Cody was loved not just by us but by many in the community. So from the bottom of our hearts thank you for being with us during this time and supporting any way you can.
