Honoring Colin by Caring for Bert

On April 23rd, The Parker Pie Co. and close-knit community of Glover learned of the tragic and untimely passing of Colin Plechaty. Colin was a selfless and kind friend to everyone he met, and he was an avid animal lover- poodles were his favorite. He was connected with Bert, a now 6-year-old poodle, in 2022- Bert had been used for breeding and was being retired, and Colin wanted to help him. Though this spunky poodle proved to be a challenge, Colin took him in without a second thought. They became buddies- many walks were had, and every night they curled up together in bed.

Bert was Colin’s best friend, and he needs our help. We would like to honor Colin by assisting with any expenses related to his care.

Bert needs a vet check, vaccines, parasite prevention, and most importantly, a full groom to get him back in tip-top shape. All donations will go directly toward Bert’s care, and The Parker Pie Co. will donate any remaining funds to PETS of the Kingdom, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of Vermont’s animals in need- the very organization that has taken Bert in to help him.

There is sadness, anger, guilt, and still much processing to be done, but the first step in our collective healing journey is doing whatever we need to for Bert the poodle. Please consider donating to Bert’s cause so that he can continue to live his best life.
