Ponchatoula Police Chief Bry Layrisson – It is with an extremely heavy heart that we report the passing of Corporal Pricilla Dean Pierson. She passed away Tuesday morning. At approximately 10:00 am, the department received a call from a concerned citizen at Rouses Supermarket regarding an unresponsive officer. The police and fire departments responded and located Pierson. The Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s and Coroner’s Office were requested to assist the police department. Upon arrival, the Coroner’s Office determined that Pierson was deceased. Cpl. Pierson bravely served the department for six years. She began her career as a part-time communications officer and earned her current position as a Cpl. in the patrol division. “She was a great person, wife, and an outstanding mother, according to Layrisson.” She leaves her husband, Larry Pierson, three children, and two step-children behind. Captain Larry Pierson has served the citizens of Ponchatoula for over twenty-five years. “Our community has experienced a tremendous loss today. We ask that you continue praying for Pricillia’s family, Larry, and her friends and co-workers.” We will forever be grateful for Cpl. Pricilla Pierson’s service to our department and community.
Autopsy results indicated Pierson had an 80 percent blockage in an artery and two additional contributing factors that led to her death.
