Celebrating the life
of
“Deborah Denise Griffith”
Deborah Denise Griffith was a beautifully caring mother to her daughter Shakia. Deborah suddenly and unexpectedly passed away on September 15, 2024, leaving behind her daughter Shakia, relatives, and friends in shock and saddened by this loss.
According to her daughter Shakia, they had breakfast together that morning before she left for the African American Day Parade. She had no idea it would be their last meal together. It was a normal day, until it wasn’t. Her daughter, her only child, received the devastating phone call from her mother’s girlfriend, stating that she had passed out. She ran out immediately to get to her side as soon as she could, but unfortunately, it was too late. Her mother Deborah had transitioned quickly. She had suffered a cardiac arrest, leaving her daughter shocked, bewildered, and unfortunately not financially prepared for the unexpected.
If you knew Deborah, you’d know how much she touched the lives of everyone around her. She was a warm, kind, generous, fun-loving woman with high spirits. She was an integral part of the Department of Education in Harlem’s food service. She was a master chef. She always brought people together over food. The delicious meals she prepared were not the only way she gave. She gave her best. She gave her time and energy, and she was the life of the party wherever she went. She loved to celebrate!
We are raising money to cover the cost of a funeral with a memorial service. Deborah had mentioned that having a memorial service was important and so we want to honor her wishes and how awesome she was. Please help us to honor a mother, a sister, a friend, and a servant of God.
We are already overwhelmed by the support shown so far and cannot thank you all enough for helping our family during this very difficult time.
