Honoring Debra Kahler: Support for Final Expenses

My name is Jaime Kahler and my mother was Debra Kahler.

on Sunday October 20th my mom passed away. In August 2024 my mom had a fall at work and went into the hospital. While at the hospital they had an accidental find. They found a mass on her liver and needed her to come back to have a biopsy done. The biopsy came back positive for cancer (hepatic carcinoma). And on September 13th she received the news she had less than a year to live. That prognosis came a lot quicker than any of us could imagine.

My mom lived a great life and was a strong independent woman who did not take shit from anyone. I believe a lot of her great life started when she became clean and sober October 2, 2002. Amongst becoming clean and sober she dedicated herself to helping others that were struggling. She went to school and became a "Substance Abuse Counselor." She helped many people and guided them in the right direction.

Deb was always go, go, go. no matter how tired she was, she was always on the move. This loss for me is devastating being her only child. No one plans for this. But I know my mom is looking down on me and will be there for me through thick and thin. She will be there to guide me when times are tough. Not only did I lose my mom but I lost my best friend.

I will also be planning a celebration of life for my mother. Time and place TBA.
