Honoring the Life and Legacy of Deshawn Leeth

With broken hearts and deep sorrow, we share the passing of Deshawn Leeth my beloved best friend, boyfriend, and soulmate. Since the day we met in 2015, Deshawn became my greatest gift, teaching me the true meaning of love, faith, resilience, and purpose. His life was a light in our lives and a powerful force in our community.

Deshawn was more than a man he was a movement.

He was a pillar of hope, a champion for the overlooked, and a beacon of unwavering faith. Through every act of service, word of encouragement, and moment of presence, Deshawn inspired change. He lived to uplift others, to pour into his community, and to reflect God’s love in everything he did.

His deep and evident love for God guided his every step seen in his devotion to his family, his church (Divine Restoration Ministries), his beautiful daughter, and his community. Deshawn was a protector, a visionary, a mentor, and a leader. His influence reached far beyond Washtenaw County, leaving a lasting impact in Wayne and Macomb Counties as well.

As the Executive Director of Underdawg Nation, a nonprofit organization he founded to support and empower at risk youth, Deshawn gave his all to see others rise. His mission was rooted in transformation showing young people that they mattered, that they had purpose, and that their past did not define their future.

Deshawn’s legacy is not defined by loss but by love, strength, and lasting impact. He lived with purpose. He led with compassion. And he gave with an open heart. The Ypsilanti , Wayne , and macomb county communities and all who knew him are grieving the loss of a giant but we are committed to keeping his light shining.

We, the Leeth Family, the Evans Family, and Divine Restoration Ministries, have created this GoFundMe campaign surrounding Deshawn’s passing and to continue the work he so passionately began.
