Donation protected
Dorothy “Dotty” Lillian Jay, of Plymouth Meeting, age 73 years, 5 months, and 8 days, passed away on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at the Neshaminy Manor, in Warrington, PA, after a short illness.
She came into this world on October 23, 1950, at Jefferson Hospital in Philadelphia, PA, and was the first of four children born to Burke W and Lillian Elizabeth (McFadden) Jay.
Dotty graduated from Hatboro-Horsham High School in 1968, and from the Abington Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1972. She was a Critical Care Nurse for many years, working at Abington Memorial Hospital and the Hospital of University of Pennsylvania. She also worked as a nurse in New York and Florida.
In 1984 she began a 35+-year career with ACME Markets, working as the Head Cashier and Office Coordinator at the Norristown, King of Prussia, Wayne, and Paoli stores. Known as “DJ” to her co-workers and customers, her selfless acts of kindness touched many hearts, especially during times of grief. Whether it was providing emotional support as a nurse, or performing administrative duties with utmost efficiency, her dedication shone through in every role she undertook.
At Dotty’s request, there will be no service. Instead, she wanted people to remember her by taking time to breathe in the salt air and raise a glass in her honor.
All funds raised by donations will help the family pay her medical and funeral expenses.
