Donation protected
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Douglas Gene Mayberry, who departed this life on October 6, 2024.
We have set up a GoFundMe page for those who would like to give in lieu of gifts or flowers. Your support during this difficult time is greatly appreciated.
Born on August 18, 1946, in Tuskegee, Alabama, Douglas was the cherished son of Dr. Bennie Douglas Mayberry Sr. and Selena Williams. He proudly served his country as an Army veteran during the Vietnam War, exemplifying bravery and dedication. Following his military service, he graduated from Howard University with a degree in Accounting, paving the way for a lifetime of entrepreneurial endeavors.
Douglas was a man of many talents and passions. He engaged in various businesses over the years, including real estate, consulting, legal work, and grant writing. His entrepreneurial spirit was matched only by his deep spirituality. Through his involvement with the URANTIA Foundation philosophy, he authored several self-published books on spirituality, sharing his insights and wisdom with all who sought it.
He was known for his loud, boisterous laugh and keen business-minded thinking. His warmth, generosity, and zest for life left an indelible mark on everyone he met.
Douglas is survived by his loving children, Melissa Goldson and Bennie Mayberry; his adored grandchildren, Ashley Goldson and Alex Navarro-Powell; and his beloved sister, Bennie Rene Nelson. He also leaves behind numerous cousins, friends, and loved ones who will forever cherish his memory.
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him.
