Honoring Dr. Alexander Coppola
Spende geschützt
It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dr. Alexander Coppola.
Alex was a loving son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, partner, and friend. Alex dedicated his life to helping anyone in a medical crisis starting from a young age. He began as an explorer working his way up to a Firefighter/EMT with the Alplaus Fire Department where he also served as an EMS Lieutenant. He continued to work as an EMT for Mohawk Ambulance while attending Union College until he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience.
Afterward, he decided to follow his passion for healing by attending St. John Fisher in their Pharmaceutical doctorate program. During his rotations, he traveled to Central American multiple times to help communities that were stricken with illness. After becoming a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm-D), he worked as a pharmacist intern at CVS in Virginia and afterward continued his work in ERs and ICUs in New York and Georgia. While in New York, he found time in his hectic schedule to serve as a member of the Allegany Rescue Squadron and taught as a NYS EMT instructor.
But even though his career was impressive, it was his spirit, personality, and heart that made him a legend. He was also talented at teaching, running, jumping, scuba diving, performing Tae-Kwon-Do, playing bass guitar, collecting coins, arranging music, engineering new technology, and of course…making people laugh uncontrollably.
We created this memorial fund for those who want to donate to a tribute for Alex that will be displayed at the Alplaus Firehouse near his grandmother and grandfather’s memorial and will go towards purchasing new medical equipment for the Alplaus Firehouse.
We hated having to put a “goal”, felt awkward and wrong, so just know that any donations we receive over the “goal” will go towards Alex’s tribute and the firehouse as described above. *Update: We already had to up said “goal” multiple times now because of all of your generosity we are overcome with gratitude. Alex and his family thank you in advance for helping uphold his legacy. We have a lot of work to do.
