Honoring Fred Francis: Help with Final Expenses

Donation protected
We are heartbroken to share that Frederick (Fred) Francis—beloved husband, father, and grandfather—passed away at home surrounded by his family on August 19, 2024, at the age of 71 after a courageous battle with cancer. As the Francis family navigates this difficult time, we kindly ask for your support to help cover funeral expenses to honor Fred’s memory in the way he deserves as well as cover remaining medical expenses. Unfortunately, he was inundated with medical bills this past year, which, compounded with multiple hardships throughout his and Sandy’s lives prevented Fred from obtaining life insurance or retirement. This has left his family in a difficult financial situation. Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a significant difference and is greatly appreciated. And in any case, the Francis family will persevere as they always do.

As many know, Fred had an eclectic, remarkable life journey. After graduating George Washington High School in Alexandria, VA, and attending Ferrum College, he embarked on a diversified career—serving in the Navy for five years, becoming an established golfer, working alongside his father at RF&P Railroad, spending time in the dental and auto industries, and managing a lawn and landscaping company. But above all, Fred’s most cherished roles became husband, father, and grandfather, as he and Sandy welcomed their three sons, Christopher, Matthew, and Andrew into the world, followed by two grandchildren, Peyton and Hudson, and another on the way.

Fred had a passion for golf and music, a deep love for his family, and a knack for storytelling. He treasured his home in Stafford, VA, where he lived with Sandy for 33 years, making countless memories that will be cherished forever. In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren, Fred leaves behind sister, Peggy Pfeiff; daughters in law, Melissa and Taylor; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and two dogs, Bailey and Bentley. He is preceded in death by his daughter, Emily, and his parents, Robert and Faye.

We thank you for your love, support, and generosity during this time.
