Honoring Grandpa's Legacy: Support His Memorial

On June 20th, my grandpa passed away from cancer. He had a long battle with skin cancer and eventually when we thought it was finally over, we were told he had a tumor in his brain. We were told with radiation that it would cure his tumor but, then it was chemo, then to multiple medications until we got the news his tumor multiplied spreading throughout his brain and eventually taking his life in the end. If you knew me, you most likely heard me talk about my grandpa and how much I loved him and the memories I had with him. Both my grandparents have lived with me my entire life and were always there to help raise me alongside my parents so our bond was very strong. It was a simple walk to their room if I needed them or wanted to see them or simply talk to them. He would spoil me, listen to me, and always have my side. Whenever I had hardships and felt lonely, I knew he would always be there and listen to me. I know many people say it about their loved ones but my grandpa was truly a hard worker. He worked in the orchards till he was 77 years old because he found it to be his peace and would say if he didn’t work, he would age faster and wanted to remain healthy and strong for us. The doctors gave him 2-4 days to live, and because of his will, and the power of God, he stayed strong for 5 days. I knew he tried his best to fight to live but God said it was time for him to no longer suffer and be at peace with him in heaven. I thank the lord for letting me be by his side holding his hand till he took his last breathe. I loved him more than any word could describe. I never once in my life got mad at him. I respected and loved him so much because he was such an incredible person to me. If you can donate anything, truly any amount, it would help my family to give him the best memorial and celebration of his life.

El 20 de junio, mi abuelo falleció de cáncer. Tuvo una larga batalla contra el cáncer de piel y al final, cuando pensabamos que finalmente había terminado, nos dijeron que tenía un tumor en el cerebro. Nos dijeron que con radiación se curaría su tumor, pero luego fue quimioterapia, luego a múltiples medicamentos hasta que recibimos la noticia de que su tumor se multiplicó extendiéndose por todo su cerebro y finalmente le quitó la vida. Si me conocieras, lo más probable es que me hayas oído hablar de mi abuelo y de lo mucho que lo amaba y de los recuerdos que tenía con él. Mis dos abuelos han vivido conmigo toda mi vida y siempre estuvieron allí para ayudarme a criarme junto a mis padres, por lo que nuestro vínculo fue muy fuerte. Fue un simple paseo a su cuarto si los necesitaba o quería verlos o simplemente hablar con ellos. Él me consentia, me escuchaba y siempre estuvo de mi lado. Cada vez que tenía dificultades y me sentía sola, sabía que él siempre estaría allí y me escucharía. Sé que mucha gente lo dice sobre sus seres queridos, pero mi abuelo fue realmente un gran trabajador. Trabajó en los huertos hasta los 77 años porque encontraba que era su paz y decía que si no trabajaba, envejecería más rápido y quería mantenerse sano y fuerte para nosotros. Los médicos le dieron de 2 a 4 días de vida, y debido a su voluntad y al poder de Dios, se mantuvo fuerte durante 5 días. Sabía que hacía todo lo posible para luchar por vivir, pero Dios dijo que era hora de que ya no sufriera y estuviera en paz con él en el cielo. Doy las gracias al Señor por dejarme estar a su lado sosteniendo su mano hasta que tomó su último aliento. Lo amaba más de lo que cualquier palabra podría describir. Ni una sola vez en mi vida me enfadé con él. Lo respetaba y lo amaba mucho porque era una persona increíble para mí. Si puedes donar cualquier cosa, realmente cualquier cantidad, ayudaría a mi familia a darle el mejor monumento y celebración de su vida.
