Honoring Jamila: Help for Memorial Costs and Yasmine

Dear Friends and Family of Jamila,

As many of you already know, my sister, Jamila Savoy, departed this life on Sunday, July 28, at the age of 46 in Albuquerque, NM, with my mom and me by her side. For those who may not have heard, this is extremely heart-wrenching news to break to you via this platform.

Even though Jamila had been able to live as healthily and happily as possible for many years since initial diagnosis, her chronic illness ultimately overcame her. She fought valiantly to preserve her own life while working to maintain her catering and special events business -- Mila's Mesa -- and raise her young daughter, Yasmine, but, sadly, she was not able to obtain the organ transplant she desperately needed that she had hoped would save her life.

With your support now, you will help our mom, Sylvia, and me cover the funeral costs for Jamila, including her cremation, inurnment, celebration of life (yet to be announced), and associated expenses, for which she was not prepared. Any surplus funds will provide Yasmine with resources for school expenses and other necessities in the immediate aftermath of my sister's untimely passing.

We send a heartfelt thank you for all the gifts that have been shared thus far and are yet to be shared -- your sympathy, your love, and your donations. The caring, compassion, and generosity of heart to aid my sister in her final journey and support her young 14-year-old daughter bring much comfort to us and are easing our burden as we navigate the challenging days ahead.
